Easter Witches’ Gathering 29/3

Welcome to an Easter Witches’ Gathering at Rajalla På Gränsen Shopping Centre!

Palm Sunday is one of the most important days of Easter in Finland. On this day, children traditionally dress up as little Easter witches and go from house to house with decorated willow branches, reciting a short rhyme and wishing good luck in exchange for sweets or small treats. This beloved tradition is called “virvonta”, and it is a joyful way to welcome spring and the Easter holiday.

During the event, children can paint Easter eggs, decorate their own Easter branches for the virvonta tradition, and get ready for their Easter rounds. Young witches can also complete their festive look with a fun Easter-themed face painting.

Exciting moments await as the mischievous witch arrives to test if the children can do the “virvonta” correctly! Fortunately, the cheerful Easter Bunny is there to encourage the children, give rewards and pose for fun Easter photos.

On Palm Sunday we will also build nest boxes for goldeneye ducks, as the Telkänpönttöprojekti (Goldeneye Nest Box Project) visits the shopping centre. You can build your own nest box free of charge from ready-made parts and take it home with you.
